Acne
This disease is a very common one
affecting teenagers and adults alike. Treatments available through
this office include traditional oral antibiotics and topical regimens,
which include Retin A and alphahydroxy acids. We also do chemical
peels, prescribe Spironalactone, oral contraceptives, Blu-U light
treatments, and Accutane for the most difficult cases.
Eczema
The most common form of eczema refers
to a skin rash and itching, which is determined by heredity and
environmental factors. Treatments include topical cortisones, topical
tars, antihistamines, moisturizers, PUVA and narrow band UVB light
treatments, Evening Primrose Oil, and topical immunomodulating agents.
Moles
Moles come in many sizes and shapes
and forms. They may be round or flat, flesh toned, brown, tan or
black, and may be benign, pre-malignant, or malignant. A baseline
mole examination is suggested for most patients. Atypical or malignant
moles are excised as required. Benign moles may be removed if they
are irritated or if the patient so desires for cosmetic reasons.
Warts
Warts are skin growths caused by the
human papilloma virus. They may occur almost anywhere on the body.
Treatment options include home regimens consisting of topical acids
or irritants, in-office treatments including cryosurgery, cautery,
or surgery. Immunomodulating stimulants can also be used when necessary.
